How SealMetrics' Isolated-hits works:

Doesn't track people

SealMetrics does not track individuals, but rather measures separate hits. Therefore, if 20 people access your website simultaneously and browse through it, SealMetrics cannot identify the navigation path of each individual visitor.

Source-ID

SealMetrics operates with a source-id system, called _adin, which allows for the aggregation of traffic source origins without identifying individual users. All users who have accessed from the same traffic source will have the same adin parameter.

Aggregated Data

We work with fully aggregated data; each time a hit occurs on a URL, the system counts it as an individual and separate hit. All hits on a URL, or from the same source, are independently added up.

Events per Source

We can attribute conversions or other events to their traffic source through the adin parameter, which follows the user’s navigation without identifying or tracking them individually. Once an event occurs, it is assigned to the adin parameter, and therefore to its corresponding source, medium, campaign, and term.

What is a Visit?

Every time a user lands from a referrer different from the domain being measured, the system considers it a visit. If the referrer belongs to the same domain, it counts as a page view. We acknowledge it may not be the most precise system, but without the ability to measure individuals, it is the most accurate while respecting user privacy.
